Andy Bird
Founder & Managing Director
Andy has worked in the professional theatre industry for 20 years and is an experienced Lighting Designer, Programmer and Production Electrician.
Andy’s passion for technical theatre was born at an early age and he learnt his craft by experimenting with lights and rigging in his parents’ garage. Since then, Andy has gone on to work on professional productions all over the UK, Europe and far beyond. His career began with 12 Years in the West End on productions such as: Buddy (Strand Theatre); The Phantom of the Opera (Her Majesty's Theatre); Jerry Springer the Opera (Cambridge Theatre); Rat Pack Live in Las Vegas (Strand Theatre & Theatre Royal Haymarket).
Following this Andy left full time employment and began working as a freelancer, which also allowed him to put more focus into AB Lighting. Andy has since been involved in productions all over the globe. Some of his credits include: The Phantom of the Opera (World Tour, Hamburg, Stockholm, São Paulo and Paris); Jersey Boys (Dubai, China Tour); Chicago the Musical (West End, UK Tour, Dubai); Titanic the Musical (UK Tour, Germany Tour, China Tour); Priscilla Queen of the Desert (UK Tour); Miss Saigon (Zurich); 42nd Street (West End); The Girls (West End); and most recently Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cinderella (West End).
Andy has a wide range of knowledge and experience that goes beyond theatre into many other types of live events and no project is too big or small.
